Bio Diesel

Question 
Been reading Threads and Posts scattered about, and came accross reference to Bio Bacteria. It would appear this problem can occur in traditional crude oil based diesel, and thinking about it both types of diesel are vegetation based, one old vegetation, ( very old ) the other new vegetation ? Confusedcratch:
However I digress, diesel ( either source ) bacteria can apparently be erradicated with a Biocide see :-http://www.agriemach.com/product_info.php?cPath=68_186&products_id=1238
Expensive pack size but treats a lot of litres !
Anybody tried it ? :whistle:

Having done a bit of googling it would appear that the problem with bacteria is not so much the bacteria themselves but the water associated with them. If this gets through the water trap it can damage the fuel pump.

Have had authorititive information :-
re 2004 2ltr Hdi :-
30% biodiesel should be ok for new HDi engine but using it in a traditional diesel engine or 100% in any engine could cause problems.

No modification should be needed in any way to use biodiesel but there are a few things to watch out for Confusedcratch: :-

Follow severe operating conditions in your maintenance routine
Change fuel filter every service
Biofuel methyl-ester meets Euro standard EN14214
Diesel fuel meets EN590

Huh? We used it 100% in my wife's ZX 1.9D and her 106 1.5D with no problems for about a couple of years (each car). My friend, whom I buy it from, uses it 100% in his 306 and his Landrover again with no problems. I would have thought it would be more problematic in HDi than in conventional diesel.

I don't doubt it for a minute, I am sure many many others have had no problem.

I was quoting, and first it said " could " cause problems.
Regarding HDi, 30% bio was the highest that could be happily used as far as they were concerned, and the source was very closely involved with Citroen.

It just puzzled me that it seemed to be ok for 30% bio in a Hdi but in a conventional it could cause problems. I really would have expected it to be the other way round. Just seems kinda odd that's all.
