Sad
I have a MK1 with many miles on the clock and a few issues that i need some help/advise on. The most urgent is getting the alternator replaced after spending the morning checking out the charging system and concluding that the alternator is not putting out any voltage. The vehicle has the DW8 diesel engine with power steering and no Air Con. I've got it up on axle stands to gain access to the Auxillary drive belt arrangement which has left me feeling that access is so tight that without the special tools referred to in the Haynes manual i wont be able to get the belt off to replace the alternator myself.
Anyone had experience with a similar job that can pass on any tips to get it done. Or recommendations for a good but reasonably priced garage in the Exeter area
