Starter motor
#1
Good day.

Have done a search, but no joy.
I have a starting problem with my '05 2.0 hdi desire, mechanic mate points finger toward the starter motor.
A replacement off ebay looks favourite, but I want get the right one, how do I identify?

Mate will put it on for me as I'm under the weather at the moment, any tips on removal I can pass on?

Many thanks,

Have you tried looking it up using the parts directory - see this thread:

http://www.berlingoforum.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=251

I have changed mine twice, but different engine. Basically 3 bolts to remove it and swap the connector over. Hardest part was the access as it was tucked away behind the back on my 1.6 petrol.

Thanks for that, good for reference.
Have sourced a new starter local, this one is on the front in amongst a load of pipework, I can see two of the bolts, but no clue has to how it comes out!

Well I've just come in from fitting the new starter, pretty straight forward, sitting on the front of the engine, held by 3 bolts, two removed from up top and one underneath.

Once it's loose and you can jiggle it round a bit you can get to the smaller cable held with the 8mm nut, when this is free you can drop it down underneath and undo the bigger cable, and out it comes.

Fitting is reverse, thought I could get the small cable and 8mm nut on after the motor was in place, but frustratingly couldn't.

Hope this might help somebody else.
