Strange rattle from exhaust only in wet
#1
Loveley British weather we are having , anyway I was driving along in a thunderstorm and went through some large puddles and the exhaust(I think ) started making an herendous knocking noise which went after a couple of minutes.
Any ideas anyone ??:fish2:

Well, water being turned to steam in a semi-confined space could do that.

Ok this will sound really daft but dont discount it!
Both my mk2's have had the same thing and its caused by the plastic front wheel arch inners. If you go through a puddle the volume of water can get behind the plastic if the bottom xmas tree fastener is missing and flips it over against the tyre. This causes a loud vibrating drumming sound which disappears when the inner flicks back again. Just a thought!

sent from a telephone that resembles a well known chocolate bar, dosen't taste like it though!

Scubaboy, I think you are right, both the fasteners are missing so this would account for the noise. Whats the best remedy get new fasteners I suppose.??

I had this a while ago just after having my exhaust repaired, thought it had fallen off on me again lol but handy to know this is probably the reason for the noise Smile

New fasteners are the best option, dont get the ones that look about right from halfrauds because they're crap. Confusedalut:
