diesel problem..
#1
hi all, when my berlingo gets low on diesel just aroud the reserve mark it starts to surge and cuts out and then its a pain trying to get to the petrol station.
if i dont let it get below say £10 in the tank theres no problem.
thought if it was the filter the prob would always be there..?
any help appreciated...KEV...:brickwall:

You have answered your own question dont let it get so low. You are probably sucking up air causing the motor to hesitate, do it enough and it will cut out plus you are picking up all the crap from the bottom of the tank.
Are we there yet????? Huh

worth draining the filter to see if theres any water or crap collecting there.... if there is it may be worth getting the tank drained out.

You may have a leak in the pick up pipe below which air from the tank is drawn. The previous tips are v good as well.

Bit pointless having a reserve warning light if you go below this level car doesn't work properly. Our 2.0HDi has gone v low (not proud of it just missed service station) and had no problem with pick up from the tank.

Doesn't the filter have a sensor for water? Not for crap though I guess.

£10 is about 6 litres round here and that much fuel would not even register on the gauge. If you regularly run it this low you can almost guarantee that the problem is your fuel filter.
So where does this bit go then ?
