Hi,
Just bought a belingo van, its lovely i love it! Only thing is ive already had to replace majority of exhaust.
And now having a closer inspection i have also found an oil leak! Like the size of 10p after few hours parked up.
Seems to be dead in the centre of the van underneath the engine?
Just wondered if anyone could give any hints or experience as to what this might be? Ive done 800 or so miles in it already.
I do love the van but now im getting worried
Anyway any help would be greatly received
Paul
Oil spreads out a lot so a little goes a long way and looks worse than it usually is. It could be a driveshaft seal or the sump plug you would really have to get under it and look but a little spot like that would probably take weeks to show a level drop on the dipstick.
I used the wrong copper washer on the wife's Skoda the other day. THere is the tiniest leak, about 1 drop every half an hour may be. Worried? No, not in the slightest.
A 10pence spot after a few hours?
Gosh! That engine must be almost brand new...
(You really don't want to see the floor of my garage... )
A 04 is nearly a decade old. Some wear and tear must be expected...
Same with the exhaust. They don't last forever. In some countries we expect it to last 5 - 7 years. (Snow, gravel roads, salt... stuff just eat the exhaust.)
You know what guys thanks a lot
made me laugh in a good way!
Im now not worried at all thanks a lot
**3 thumbs up to the smooth drive
I bet it's the sump plug, mine did the same a couple of months back following an oil change, I just nipped it up a bit tighter and it's not dripped since.
It's a Citroen, think yourself lucky it's only the size of a 10p piece!
Unless you are OCD about having a pristine driveway I wouldn't worry about it, or just put something underneath there to catch and drips after you've parked up.
Mine leaks from the driveshaft oil seal, and has a mystery engine oil leak somewhere, so I don't think you're doing too badly
What's the world coming too - a plumber who can't find a leak
