Winter- Tyres - Heater

Well, snow and ice have certainly arrived in the Scottish Highlands and so far Gislaved Nordfrost winter tyres have performed really well. One thing though, the heater in my MK3 XTR 110 seems very slow to get the car up to temperature - not that I want an overly warm atmosphere - probably poorest heater I have experienced for years! Otherwise absolutely love this car!

I have the automatic digital climate on my XTR and find it heats up very quickly,in fact it's the best heater/airco that I've ever had.

Well, winter has certainly arrived in the Scottish Lowlands too!

First trip on snow with my Hankook RW06 winter tyres. Seem OK for the money.

Re heater - our Pug 308 HDi takes ages to heat up as well. These engines are so efficient they don't produce a lot of excess heat to warm the car interior. Also, the internal volume of the Multispace will take a lot of heating. Now, imagine my 1.9D Puglingo with a sealed bulkhead - the heater will scorch the hairs off yer ankles! Cool

Did wonder if engine efficiency might have an influence and appreciate your point re cabin volume - cheers!

As we speak.....Just putting the finishing touches to fitting a pair of sliding curtains behind the two front seats and a couple of those sausage type draft excluders:lol::lol::lol::whistle::whistle::whistle:

Get a piece of perspex cut it to the shape of the grill and tie wrap it on.

Worked perfect on my old transit. Most diesels don't need much cooling when it gets below about 5 degrees.

Now the transit had a 1 inch slot below the grill so it it wasn't completely blocked

The berlingo might need a slot left out if there's no other route for air

On looking my berlingo has many slots not a specific grill so maybe block half the grill from behind.

I'll be trying at the weekend so ill let ye know

In my handbook it mentions a "snow screen" to stop snow blowing up from the road onto the lower part of the radiator cooling fan. It says that it clips in place over the lower grille and cautions to remember to remove it when no longer needed. I've never seen one (as far as I know) and googling it has produced no result, but that sort of thing may be able to be adapted

Yes, the efficiency of the engine of the engine is the reason for the heater being slow to heat up. Its is not as good as my previous 'lingo with 1.9diesel. I asked my main dealer for the snow screen when I got the car & he said it was not supplied with UK spec cars. I'm sure you could order it from the parts dept. Possibly worth an email to Citroen UK, they may give you one free as it does state in the handbook it is required in thick snow.

It's a shame that so many dealers can only be bothered to find out the facts once they've had a good kick in the arse!
Fact: We are presently going through a snowy winter phase and thus a snow grille is required according to the Berlingo Handbook.
However the dealers say that it's not necessary in the UK.
Then why, in the UK handbook, does it state that it should be fitted?
Easy one this: /wicked grin/ Wink Point out very politely to the dealer concerned that if we get a shedload of snow and they still refuse
to stock winter grilles when the cooling fans get clogged/ frozen up and stop working, any resultant damage will be down to them to rectify free of charge....
There won't be too many prepared to take that chance!
