Hi guys
Can anyone tell me where to find the engine breather on a 1.9d?
The reason I'm asking, is that i think there is too much pressure in the engine. I've got oil spray on the bonnet sound proofing inline with the filler cap and when removing filler cap after a run, it seems to have pressure release from it, followed by some smoke.

Have you checked oil fill level before start up and on the level? May be over filled. What colour is the oil? I'd check that first before going for oil breather. Check coolant hasn't leaked into oil too. Of course you have more than likely done this.

Thanks for the reply horse
Yeah checked the oil before stating off and was about 3/4 up between the two marks. After doing a 98 mile trip, oil had dropped to just above half way. The oil is alittle on the black side, might need changing I guess. Checked the coolant in the expansion bottle and no sign of oil.
What makes me think the crankcase breather might be blocked, is that late last year I had a head gasket go. Had the head skimmed and new head gasket fitted. After had this done, I flushed out the coolant and install a new thermostat, as it had oil sludge around it, plus flushed out the engine.
Anyway, I didn't check the crankcase breather, so It might be blocked with sludge.
I've also read somewhere, that a blocked crankcase breather will push oil pass the piston rings because of the high pressure, which could be why I'm losing/using a little oil as well.
So, where abouts is this breather and whats it look like? Any pics would be lovely
Cheers
Mark

What dishwasher tabs work best? I'm reluctant to put Jizer in.
