Hi, i have hdi 75hp engine, since this engine has a turbocharger i am wondering do i have to wait before i cut the ignition? if i do how long to wait so the turbo rpm will get low?Thanks!

Rule of thumb is to let the engine idle for 30 seconds to allow the turbo to cool off a bit - that's after driving for a while. I see you're in the middle east so you might allow a bit more time if the weather is hot.

Great, thanks for the answer. I let it cool off for about one minute each time.
I heard that 1.6hdi have some issues with oil canals clogs to the turbo charger? What is the solution for this problem? or it is not that common to discuss?Thanks

The most important aspect to prolonging the life expectancy of your turbo
is to use the correct oil at all times and if possible change the oil and filter early,
say at 9,000 miles( about 14,000 kilometres ) or in arduous conditions like yours, maybe sooner.
The oil must meet the PEUGEOT & CITROEN B71 2290 standard,

My car did already 117,000km, what is the average turbo life span?
I don't want to get surprised with dead turbo and to buy it over here(really expensive here). I am thinking to buy a spare turbo online. The question is what are reliable sites to buy a turbocharger. New or rebuilt one?and how much does it costs on average?Thanks.

Just wondering how stop / start operating affects the turbo

@taxi... Many people have the habit of 'blipping' the throttle when they switch off. This spins up the turbo and because the engine has stopped it tends to run dry.

well, while you drive turbo spins about 100,000rpm and getting oil from the system, while you shutting suddenly the engine the oil pressure drops to zero but the turbo keeps spinning at this moment we have an oil "hunger", turbo has no lubrication. That is a real problem , i know there is alarm systems with turbo pause, that way you don't have to worry about turbo pause.

Referring to stop / start technology. I suppose there must be inbuilt protection ( I hope )

Hi,
usually turbo life is around 80.000-100.00 miles if well-loooked after with regular oil and filter changes of every 6000 miles.
When servicing take out the trubo intake pipe and feel the fan inside.If the play on the turbo is too loose,keep an eye on and change when you can afford it.
