Here we go again.....first flurry of snow last night, hope it's just a one-off, at least for the present. I wonder if the price of winter tyres go up more quickly very soon ( by coincidence ).

Same here. It poured buckets of rain last night and as a bit after 7 this morning the temp. dropped to 1 and it is snowing nicely. The garden is all white. Changed to my winter tyres this morning in the warmth of my garage . Been out for a test drive and amazingly (according to my wife) the wheels are still on the car.

I expect the conditions get a LOT worse in Switzerland than here, although that will not stop us moaning. As long as the Authorities manage to keep as much of the roads clear as possible, then that will suit me fine. :woop: ( but I will STILL probably moan !!! )

This will be my first winter in an EGS XTR.
As I was previously used to driving an automatic Scenic (although I have a full license), so far I have been driving in Automatic mode only.
Do you have any advice for winter/snow driving? Have you found it better to use automatic or paddles?

I just basically used " auto " mainly but used paddles a couple of times to limit dependence on brakes only, but also have to confess to switching off the Eco mode especially when going down steep icy inclines and even starting off as it felt a bit scary when everything cuts out. Anybody else got opinions on this ?

It hasn't stopped snowing all day. Have about 7" so far. Looks like it might keep it up all night. Temp. is right at 0 and slowly dropping.
