That Engine Managemant Light...
#1
The yellow engine warning/management light came on today, coincidentally it came on at the same time as I managed to press both brake & accelerator whilst driving in my big work bootsConfusedillyme:

Service indicator says 7k till next service, car was running fine before the light came on and has been absolutely fine since, just a bit concerning why the light came on, and if it was linked to me braking/accelerating at the same time or just a bizarre coincidence.

I don't know anyone with a code reader, so might just try a bsi reset this week, see if that clears it. I only have the master key (no key fob), will the bsi reset still work ok without the fob/plip key?

All pearls of wisdom gladly received.... Smile

Try 4 or 5 full restarts of the engine, ie switch off pull key out try again, with the engine hot. very often the computer will reset and clear the fault if only minor in nature...

Get on ebay and invest in a code reader, the best £20 I spent in a long time! Quite often the fix is cheap, but without a code reader you've no chance.

It was a warning from the BSI unit telling you that left foot braking in a citroen is prohibited unless you're Sebastien Loeb

I note you have a 2003 HDi. Me too on a 52 plate. I bought a scanner of Amazon, Autel Maxscan MS300. Wouldn't connect to my Bingo, but worked fine on my mate's petrol Focus. The OBD II (On Board Diagnostics) standard only had to be adhered to on petrol cars from 2001 and diesels from 2004. So our 2003 HDi's didn't have to be and look like they aren't compliant to OBD II. What this means is I think that only the Citroen Lexia 3 diagnostic tool will talk to it. FYI you can get one from Fleabay, around £75 quid.

Hmm interesting. If I get any more problems from the BSI then the £75 for a Lexia doesn't seem like such a bad price when you consider how much some garages will charge you to read the codes just once, and of course you can keep and use the Lexia again & again.
