Hey all,

I managed to get the BE3 gearbox out and change the release bearing :thumbsup:

Now I'm having trouble with the clutch release fork. It has a threaded bolt going into it but no hex or socket head. I can get a nut onto it but do I keep turning or shall I pull on the nut?

My goal is to replace the shaft sleeve that sits behind the clutch fork and release bearing.

I'm fairly sure you drive the threaded end back into the shaft, new pins are available ex-dealer plus Fleabay vendors like Neat Car Parts.

Put a nut onto the thread and have it flush with the end. Now strike the nut squarely and firmly with a 2Lb hammer and it should move inwards - tapered pin. The last one I did was on a C15 and it was a 7mm nut which was the same as the strut top nuts ( non standard thread ). The Berlingo one is likely to be the same.

So I bang the threaded end into the shaft and through with a punch?

Yes, that's the approach. If you have a bit of brass rod it will help not damage the threads, otherwise you can try Geoff's nut method.

To draw the pin up tight on refitting, you need a nut/washer on the threads.

OK thanks, just got hold of a Haynes and it says to put a nut on it and tighten till the pin draws out. Think I'll pay a mechanic that way if it messes up it's on them.

So once it's in and flush what shall I do then to remove it?

Just wondered how you got on with the pin issue?
Have had same problem myself, beat old one out and beat new one in, bent both as couldn't get straight drive onto new pin, had to buy new fork and arm to get pin.
anyway now its coming off again as bearing gone in gearbox,so replacement gearbox and need to change over new input shaft sleeve.
anyone know where to get just the pin?

I left my one in. Stupid design. They seem to seize and if you bang them they can destroy the fork-arm's plastic bushes.
