Central Locking (1.4L petrol MPV)
I am having trouble with remote control central locking (CL). My vehicle is special import into Australia (wheelchair access conversion). Not a lot of Berlingos here with CL so little local info.
Problem is CL unlocks itself after vehicle is left for a time – sometimes hours sometimes days.
I notice that there is no mechanical switch on doors to activate internal lights so the “door closed” sensing must be in the actual door lock. I suspect that one of these sensors might be the problem as a couple of times with all doors closed the CL has not latched. Opening and closing doors once has immediately allowed CL. Can anyone tell me where the “door closed” sensors are located and whether there is any adjustment? Bought manual but its not helpful.
The other curious thing I have noticed is the behaviour of the rear hatch door. This locks/unlocks using the remote in sync with front doors. Also locking /unlocking front door with key also locks/unlocks all other doors and hatch as normal. However the rear hatch can be unlocked using the key, independent of the front doors (which will remain locked). Curiously if the hatch is then opened (swung up) when it gets approx horizontal the CL triggers and unlocks all doors (audible clunk). I don’t know if this is supposed to happen (does not seem logical) or it is a fault. I am thinking if it’s a fault there may be a wiring problem that is activated by the hatch swinging up - loose wiring falling inside hatch or wiring being strained by the hinge action of the hatch? If so this might be related to mysterious CL intermittently unlocking.
Appreciate any advice whether this is normal behaviour and where/how “door closed” sensors are on front doors and hatch.
