Any body run on bio fuel
#1
Is anybody using bio fuel especially the home made stuff if the price goes up much more I may consider it, new cooking oil seems to be about £1.00 a liter but I do not think you get as good a MPG and it may well ruin your engine.

Biodiesel isnt working out that cheap anymore is it? We used to fill our 2.0L HDI with it, and it didnt seem to like us putting BD in then D. Might be unrelated, but our fuel gauge tok on a mind of its own after its first taste of BD. Must have gone to its head.

never used myself.....

however usage of biodiesel and veg oil is restricted to whether you have a Lucas or Bosch fuel pump, I believe. One of these is not compatible, don't know which at present??

Anyone??

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

Before my Berlingo I had a C15 van,it loved a 50/50 mix veg oil/diesel in summer,& 25/75 mix in winter. It gave better MPG,ran & idled smoother. This went on for 80,000 miles until I sold it at 200,000 miles. It's still going well.I am hesitant to put any in my 07 1.6 HDI as there are conflicting stories.Wink

I too used to run a C15 van on biodiesel and it was no problem, only used to mix it 25% -75% fosil diesel in winter to help starting. the rest of the time was nearly a straight mix. The van ran crisper and more sprightly as well as giving a slightly better mpg. used to buy it from a place in Bamber Bridge Preston, it was the proper stuff not just stranied chip fat. Only downside was that it smelled like a chippy going down the road!

I've also got a Picasso 2.0 Hdi and have also heard conflicting reports so have stayed clear with that one.

Used to run my Xantia XUD on straight veg oil without problems, but all the research I've done says in the HDi it's a no no. Thus I haven't even tried it
