D/S Sliding Door not locking
#1
Hoping you may be able to help, had a good search but can't find anything specific:

Problem.... D/S sliding door not locking with central locking...it does lock manually via child lock.

I may have accidentally caused this myself when previously working on the car and detaching the battery, if that sounds possible.

Does this sound like a BSI reset jobby...as looking in the Haynes manual it's a door off the car job to remove the lock/motor...and I'd rather not go there if poss.

If you lock it manually, does it Unlock via remote?

Hi Varg, thanks for taking the tiem to reply. The child lock locks the door but the remote will then not open it.
I think this happened when I was working on the car though it may be coincidence. It was pouring with rain and I was sat on the back seats with the central locking locked, in a break in the rain I opened the rear door (manually) and then disconnected the battery, I think this is when the problem started, but as I say, it may just be coincidence...hmmm!

I don't know if this helps you but:
I have a similar problem.
i see that when i sit inside the car and press remote lock on key, it locks and unlock without a problem.
I did a BSI reset (did not help at all)
Further away outside the car, it does not lock (but it does unlock)
The lock button inside the car does the same thing (unlock, but no lock)
So i am gonna take of that door cover inside, and lube up the mechanic there. I believe thats the problem.

Bringing this topic back to life. The problem with the drivers side rear door never got fixed and now the passenger side rear is going the same way, sometimes unlocking but not doing the majority of the time.
Read a few topics on the forum, some say BSI issue, some say actuator, anyone care to offer any advice please?

I'm suspecting individual door issues due to the doors failing years apart

Did you try the BSI reset ?.

It only takes a minute or so.

What about the battery in the key ?, a new battery may have that little bit more range in it.

Are the electrical connectors/connections between the door and body clean .?

Then if still no joy then as you suspect it may be the motors/rods/levers sticking which a dose of wd40 type stuff may cure.

Thanks for the reply brodfather11. No, I haven't done a BSI reset yet (I'll try and find it on here).
Electrical connectors clean, even removed the contact plates to make sure the wires hadn't come adrift (they hadn't).
From a quick read of my Haynes manual it looks like removal of the sliding doors is preffered to work on them...don't fancy that, would rather remove the door cards, much easier.

You will probably find the mechanism is dry of lubricant and the motor cant overcome the friction. Remove the door card and give it a good soak in GT85 or similar, then work the lock with the door card still off and see whet is happening.

That'll be my 1st port of call after checking connections etc. I also had the spring go on the drivers door handle last year, another job for when it stops raining in sunny Manchester...hopefully I'll get a crack at it this weekend.
