[Engine] Turbo noise
#1
Hi There,  Smile

New to forum.

My 2008 Berlingo van, 1.6 HDi with 71 K miles, passed annual MOT yesterday with advisory " Slight noise in Turbo area".
Was concerned enough to call mechanic back on returning home......he advised that it was wear in turbo bearing which will get worse over time but not fail instantly......increase in oil use as it degrades......nothing to worry about apparently.
Subsequently went online and now seriously CONCERNED Huh with all the horror stories about these engines turbo issues .
Is there anything I can get done now to prevent further Turbo wear / damage and possible engine problems.......surely just letting the wear continue is not being proactive in the longterm ??
Any suggestions following personal similar experiences appreciated.....

Bad news sorry to say i would change the turbo asap as the engine may start to run on the oil from the turbo and blow your engine what sort of service history has it got first thing to do take the heat shield off see the oil feed pipe you need to get that off as well to check it there is a small mesh filter on the end to see if blocked if it's clean i mean spotless clean you just need to check the flow rate with a rag over oil feed hole start the engine tick over only make sure there's a good flow rate if yes you need to change the oil and filter Citroen speck for you engine and a new turbo .
If the mesh filter is not spotless clean it's a big job sump off to clean all the sludge from the sump new pick up gauze mesh and pick up pipe new turbo feed pipe all done at you own risks i have to say that to cover my but

There are load's of turbo specialist with a guarantee a garage will most lightly have to fit it one thing i forgot to say check your injectors seal's are not leaking as this can get in the oil and kill your turbo
