Berlingo Desire Submariner!
#1
Sad
Hi everyone, I live in Dorset where I run an ironing service. Our 54 plate 2.0 Desire was bought during the recent drought to act as both delivery/collection vehicle and general runabout. It has proved itself to be ideal in both roles but the recent rains have exposed a major problem: the roof leaks badly above the driver's sun visor!

Perhaps we should have expected problems as the rubber seal around the Desire's roof panel was slightly lifted and the car was about £1000 cheaper than average for its age and condition. I've tried sealing the gap with silicone, but this has reduced the leak only minimally.

I found this forum after googling the leak and now realise this might be a common 'design' problem with no permanent fix - even from Citroen themselves. This is very upsetting indeed as it's spoiling our enjoyment of an otherwise fine vehicle.

If anyone can offer any advice on how we might hold back the tide of water now entering the vehicle then we would be most appreciative. :fish:

You are experiencing something already discussed and, certainly as far as that thread goes, there was no solution. Perhaps there has been progress in the meantime

"Ironing is the use of a heated tool (an iron) to remove wrinkles from fabric. The heating is commonly done to a temperature of 180-220 °Celsius, depending on the fabric. Ironing works by loosening the bonds between the long-chain polymer molecules in the fibers of the material. While the molecules are hot, the fibers are straightened by the weight of the iron, and they hold their new shape as they cool. Some fabrics, such as cotton, require the addition of water to loosen the intermolecular bonds."

OR

Wimmins' work!
But in this case done (better) by a man!

If it is so damned technical, Alaister, then why do we entrust this menial task to wimmen????

Please do not telephone our house on a Monday night as it is ironing night and the missus easily gets confused, don't want to be rushing her off to A+E with a badly scorched but neatly pressed earhole.....

Head down in the trench and watch the bullets flying overhead :whistle::whistle::whistle::wave::wave::wave:

I would rather do the ironing than try and replace the offside headlamp bulb on my Blingo.

I'd rather do pretty much anything else than ironing, but during these difficult times for jobs, it pays the bills rather well while allowing me highly flexible working hours. There is also a certain satisfaction to be derived from the appreciation of most clients - which helps offset the contempt detected from others.

It's rather ironic, I once lived and worked in Kenya, where we had servants to perform this and other menial tasks; if they could see me now!! :justno:

Got to admit a certain admiration of your "needs-must" attitude to getting out there and earning a crust. Nice one and may your business continue to grow and prosper
