2nd ignition key - pdunny - 14-07-2014 Hi. When I purchased my Berlingo last week there was only one key with it. As I like to have a spare and the one with the car didn't lock in the open position I went to the local Citroen dealer to get a new remote one. I was quoted 5 to 10 days and approximately £200. While I thought about it I went on the internet and found that Timpsons, the shoe people, advertise replacement keys. I went to Timpsons in Wakefield Asda. I said I wanted a new remote key and that I would keep the original as a spare due to it not locking open. There was a problem with the computer and so he couldn't do it there and then. He rang me yesterday (Sunday) to say the computer was working again. I went in today and within 20 minutes I left with a new case on my remote key (now locks in open position) and a non remote spare key both of which I have used today to check they work. Cost £85.00 but reduced by £5.00 by the manager due to the computer being down the first time I called. If you need a new key (any vehicle) I can't recommend Timpsons enough. Fantastic service. RE: 2nd ignition key - Jed Clampit - 14-07-2014 Nice to see you have it sorted thank's for pointing Timpsons out better than getting robed by the dealer's alut:  RE: 2nd ignition key - ron - 14-07-2014 (14-07-2014, 09:30 PM)Jed Clampit Wrote: Nice to see you have it sorted thank's for pointing Timpsons out better than getting robed by the dealer's alut:  Don't you mean "unrobed",Jed?:whistle: RE: 2nd ignition key - Jed Clampit - 14-07-2014 Do you mean by being unrobed after robbing you they give it back cratch: The pretense of being robed by the dealer if you go there the're going to take you for as much as they can being robed or has i call it social mugging  RE: 2nd ignition key - ffrenchie - 15-07-2014 (14-07-2014, 09:51 PM)ron Wrote: Don't you mean "unrobed",Jed?:whistle: Hopefully he doesn't mean disrobed  I'll have to look into this as our second key only opens the doors but will not start the car. I do full replacement flip keys for £80 so long as you have the transponder code. A simple key is £25. RE: 2nd ignition key - dumdum - 16-07-2014 Halls locksmiths on alfreton road, notts will do a second non remote key and copy your transponder chip over for 35 quid the last time I wanted one as long as you have a working transponder key, they don't do the remote version but replacement cases are under a fiver from eBay anyway... RE: 2nd ignition key - Solent - 16-07-2014 Speaking of robbed, a previous owner may still have that other key? Quite likely honestly lost or hidden somewhere but still worrying. I accept that they may not be able to do remotes in all branches as can be seen from their website but I don't think they would be allowed to advertise remotes if they can't do them. When I called there I specifically asked for a remote and asked if they were able to program them without me supplying a code and they said no problem. The charge was £150 compared to £200 from the dealer and would take approximately 20 minutes. The only reason I couldn't get a key on the first visit was because the computer for programming the key was down. What impressed me the most was that they offered me a much cheaper alternative anyway but I have no doubt that they could and would be able to supply a remote key had I really needed one. Indeed they informed me that if the existing remote went faulty they could use the non remote key to make a new remote for me. I guess the simple answer is if somebody needs a new remote don't take my word for it put them to the test. |
