Service - Silent_Bob - 13-03-2015 Hey folks This is not so much a problem more a request(plead) for some advise. My van is in bad need of a service, it's a straight 1.9 diesel without AC or anything remotely aimed at driver comfort. I've decided I want to do a major service so other than these below what else needs doing/changing? Oil Oil filter Fuel filter Air filter I don't need to check/replace the brakes as I replaced discs, pads, drums, shoes and cylinders (Yes they all needed replacing) about 3 months ago. Oh yes and the brake fluid was changed as most of it ended up on the drive. The heater plugs and cables were also changed, along with the backbox which fell off and the windscreen. This bloody van has cost me a fortune recently... At least my magic tree still smells fresh!! Anyways.. It's not had a service for about 18 months/15k miles (don't judge me please, other things keep falling off the van) would it be advisable to put some cheapo oil in and run it for a while and then change it for some decent stuff and replace the oil filter again? Are these engine flush things worth it? Also would I need to change the gearbox oil, coolant, PAS fluid? Are there any pitfalls I should avoid while doing this? Any advise is greatly appreciated!!! RE: Service - Jed Clampit - 13-03-2015 I would change the gear box oil what colour is the PAS fluid if it's still clear red leave it coolant if it's orange / red and clear it's long life so should be OK or you can test it tester's cheap these day's |
