Help needed - boilermaker1 - 21-07-2016

Hi, I was driving my van this evening 2005  Berlingo Diesel 1.9.
I turned it off for 10 minutes and when I restarted van, Fuel gauge
not working, I know that fuel tank is half fuel.
Is this a common problem? Where is the problem likely to be?
Sender unit or dash gauge?
Thanks

More likely to be sender

Get it plugged into lexia and actuator test the fuel gauge, if it works test wiring with resistors at plug for fuel sender under the van (from memory it's a four or five pin plug that's clipped up under the floor just infront of the tank slightly drivers side of centre) I can't remember about the resistance range mind, but it's easier than dropping tank out

Also worth topping tank up as that will disturb the float if it's sat funny and not contacting the wiper
