Stereo and central display dismay :-( - Bunglechef - 21-02-2013

Hi, just picked up my 54 plate 2.0 hdi Desire. Very pleased with it!! But...... It's been fitted with an aftermarket Sony stereo which is fine but the steering Colombia controls don't work and the clock is frozen at whatever time I turn the ignition on at, unless I hold down the left hand button, then the correct time shows but then freezes again!! Any ideas?? Looking at putting a DAB radio with Parrot hands free in. Just want to know if I can solve these problems all in one go or if they they aren't related.
Regards, JB

If you follow the BSI reset procedure & disconnect the battery, the display should fix itself once all is reconnected. The same happened with my Sony stereo.

Not sure what's gone wrong with your steering controls though.

I think you need the correct patch lead to make the remote stalk work. Im sure there is a thread on here about it somewhere.

Not all stereos can be operated by the remote.

If it can be, you will have to check with the manufacturer to be sure, as Tomcat says you need the correct lead - that in itself is not straightforward.

Search on the Forum and you will find more information

Yes. Anything more complicated than plugging it in & they're lost. For all the technical skills that they bring to the party (for their fee too) you'd be better off doing it yourself.
If you're not overly confident, see if a knowledgable friend will help, but don't rely on Halfords too much.
