2.0Hdi 'Tapping' sound top of engine - brandescot - 05-07-2013

I've noticed an audible 'tapping' sound which increases with engine revs on my 2003 Hdi .... It sounds like either a stuck hydraulic lifter or even maybe injector noise but there is no loss of power or mpg, everything seems ok.

Any ideas or should I be worried?Confusedcratch:

I'd certainly get it checked just for peace of mind....extraneous engine noises
can indicate all sorts of problems and you ignore them at your peril.

I've looked at the other Forums and it seems this is a common problem on HDi's - Injector fault !

Injector issues (albiet on the 1.6's ) have been alledgedly linked to subsequent turbo failures.
As OJ warns,I would get it checked out sooner rather than later:thumbsup:
