Coolant Temp Sensor (peak and STOP) - Varg - 18-10-2013
Hi there
My temperature gauge going rocket high and the STOP sign coming on, and after hile and some few minutes of rest, everything is back to normal for a month or so.
Seems like there is no leak.
So now i am going to check all the sensors, But which one?
Anyone else experienced this?
I will add the parts from the catalogue here as a screenshot, sorry for the Swedish here:
but maybe someone will know witch essential parts i need to change here?

Are you sure it is not the exhaust being blocked? A catalyst which is dying from old age, can produce those effects sometimes.

Well, i am note sure. But i do not think it is that problem.
If so, what other signs should i look for then?
that i should feel on the power of the car right?
Fan runs after cars ignition are off for about 2 minutes, as it thinks the engine are hot (and it is not)
When i disconnected the thermo contact, it produces the same error with a ice cold car ( cleaned the connectors a little bit to see if that helps)
Have not driven the car hot today

Well, today it happened again. So i will try to change the sensor.
Today i only disconnected battery, reconnected, and all fine again.
That shows me there is a sensor problem..or?

Make did the same, random peak temperature, changed the sensor, problem solved.
I'd get a good look at your particular sensor so you know which you need as there are different ones.

Steve, i will take out it tomorrow, and post a pic.
Seems quit easy to change. sits on top right, between the engine and airfilter.

here is the sensor i suspect gives me the error. Sits on top of the engine, between the block and airfilter on a berlingo 1.4i

So after some tests, i changed the coolant liquid sensor as the post over, and have been driving for a few days with no errors.
