[Transmission] Clutch Cable Compatibility (1.9D)
#1
Question
Hi,

The automatic adjuster on my bingo is shot, as is the fashion, and I need to buy a new cable.

Eurocarparts show me 2 different cables based on my reg. no.:

The OEM style cable, as fitted to my bingo, with an automatic adjuster that fits down at the bottom of the bulkhead

and

A simpler looking, cheaper, manually adjusted cable.

I'd like to swap to the manually adjusted type, but ECP shows the OEM cable as having a length of 1732mm and the Eicher cable as having a length of 1438mm.

Does anyone know for sure that I can fit the shorter cable to my berlingo? I'd imagine that as it doesn't have to travel to the adjuster bracket on the bottom of the bulkhead and back up to the clutch arm on the top of the gearbox it wouldn't need to be as long.

Thanks in advance  Smile

Easy way to find out just disconnect the cable at the clutch operating end and unclip from the adjuster bracket then try routing the cable in a different ( shorter ) way. Once done measure the " extra " length and subtract from the overall cable length and see how the two cables compare. I've had the cable off before now and it is straightforward.
