Airdream gearbox problems
#1
Hi there
Just wondered if anyone has suffered from automatic gear changing issues? I've got a 2011 airdream .
The other morning after its normal run up the motorway, we pulled of down the slip road and as I slowed down to the junction it gave a warning beep and the info said 'gearbox fault'.
It then wouldn't change up to second as I pulled off again. I got it to change to 2nd by using the steering wheel flappy paddle.
It then behaved normally but was a bit jumpy around the change from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, sort of holding on to long to the gear and then changing harshly.
To make things worse on the way home the engine management light came on but it was changing gear mostly smoothly.
I thought that was it and it was going to fail and cost me a fortune :0( but today there are no gearbox warnings or engine management light and it's changing gear perfectly ??
I'm now on tender hooks waiting for it to happen again.
Anyone got any ideas what might have happened ?
All the best

I bet it's just a sensor that's acting up. Has the engine management light gone off now or is it still present?

Have you been relying on the auto box since or using the "flappy paddle" function ? I'm not familiar with the auto box does it need regular fluid changes or any adjustment to maintain functions ? Don't keep us on tenter hooks if you find a cure or the source of the problem Wink
So where does this bit go then ?

Lol
Hardly ever use the paddles and it's working fine on auto at the mo.
Citroen have since looked at it and can't find a problem. They haven't suggested what it might be. They just said to monitor it ?
I'm hoping it was just a glitch on the software or maybe some crud on a sensor.
I'll just play the waiting game and prey it doesn't do it again

Why when thers a problem the main dealer can never find it??..

They are all hopeless
It's a dangerous game as they'll randomly replace stuff regardless of cost and hope they remove the fault by chance.
If you are unlucky you could lose the car for ages whilst they replace parts and still end up with the original problem and maybe a few new ones

I think these cars, vans are getting to clever for the own good..their making them harder and harder to work on.we have to relay on dealer only and they keep it for days and then say we couldn't find owt wrong.I think they just park it up and forget about it...

Would plugging in an OBD error code reader help? It might indicate a fault to you. My reader cost about £20 off Amazon
