2000 model, running like a bag of hammers, been told its an injector fault, as there are 4, any idea how to test them and find out which one, if any, is causingthe problem?

Should not be telling you this as it is dangerous to do....
Diesel fuel under pressure or spray can become injected beneath the skin with obvious fatal results...
In the good old days, to determine a mis-fire on a non-electronically controlled non-hdi system, it was possible to run the engine on tick-over and slacken each injector pipe in turn. When a "good" injector pipe is loosened the engine will slow even further and become even rougher on tick over. Loosening the "Bad" injector pipe will make little or no difference to the engine note or speed. To eliminate an injector once a suspect one is found involves swapping the suspect one to another cylinder and vice versa. Once swapped, if the problem moves with the injector then you know it is that that is the problem.
Altenatively, whip the lot out and take them to a fuel injection specialist for testing but that will cost... All of the above may well now be academic as testing of electronically controlled injectors in this manner is frowned upon.
Good luck and work safely...
