Fitting EGR Valve
#1
I had our motor vehicle department at work stick their analyser gizmo on my 58 plate 1.6 XTR and the codes of P0409 EGR Solenoid Valve Sticking and P0489 EGR Circuit Valve Too Open came up. The car is getting a right pain to drive at times, hesitation on accelerating and now a warning on the dash and also with the engine logo illuminated. I need to replace the valve but could do with a bit of guidance as to how hard it is. Do I need to access the vehicle from underneath or is it all do-able from above? What do I have to remove to get access? Do I need any gaskets as well as the valve?

Not up to speed on the mk3

However before you spend your hard earned the first thing you need to do is give the valve a clean , in most cases thus solves egr problems.
