Cheers

I don't think I ever undone mine. I just worked around it. The design is stupid I agree but if I were you I wouldn't touch it, being plastic, as it will probably brake and no longer will have anything. To be honest the hoses are more than capable of holding the fuel filter weight. I did mine last year, if you want I can take a picture while the car is in the air.

Hi griff, mine is petrol

Hi Kokain

There is no way that my filter will come out as the strap is holding it very tight. There seems to be a little slot where a special tool goes to undo it or would a flat head screw driver suffice

Hi PitPan,
Haynes says (and photo shows) "Release the tab of the restraining strap and slide filter out of its housing". Perhaps it needs some release fluid to free it. I suppose if you are renewing the filter anyway a little gentle persuasion won't hurt as long as you don't damage the bracket.

Hi griff,

Yes I have the book as well but this strap is of the peculiar type it's not straight forward to undo unless I'm being a complete twit and do not see how to release it

I shall investigate some more tomorrow morning

Take a pic of the strap.

Maybe someone can work it out from that?[/i]
