Oh.Wow.I didnt expect that.Its only been the last 5 years or so that its been about but what you say makes sense.Silly question but you dont know the name of the algae by any chance so i can Google it ! Thank you anyway for throwing light on something which has had me puzzled for a number years.
I think it's called Rhodophyta ?

My mum moved house a couple of years ago, and this was all over the bathroom grouting. We just painted neat thick bleach on, with lots of ventilation of course. No scrubbing, just daub it on. It vanished within an hour and has never returned.

Thanks Jed.Ive Googled Rhodophyta and it appears its a tropical sea weed,now, i know its gets warm and wet down here in Devon but not quite tropical "yet"anyway.It made interesting reading though.It must be called something else ! Best regards.
