hand brake warning light.
Hi Guys, I've got an X reg 1.9 D multispace with 67,000 on the clock, it's a great car but it's developed a very annoying fault. When driving along the hand brake light comes on and the warning beeps, it doesn't do it all the time just now and again and it goes out on it's own. Has anybody got any idea what could be causing it.
Cheers
Doc..

Cheers Steve, I had got it into my mind that it would be a lot more complicated than that, I suppose thats what you get for driving a Mercedes for the last 6 years, everything on Mercs is so complicated.

Could be low brake fluid level.

Thanks BlueBlingo, I've just found out from the owners manual that the handbrake warning light doubles as a brake fluid level warning light, I'll check the level when it's light tomorrow.

RE: hand brake warning light.
Low brake fluid could either be a leak, worn discs and or pads or rear shoes / drums worn

Follow this link which is in the how to section
http://www.berlingoforum.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=1262

Within it You will find loads of info for checking brake components for wear.

RE: hand brake warning light.
Panic over, the fluid level was a bit low. I checked the brakes over and all seem quite new and can't find any leaks, topped up the fluid and all is fine.

RE: hand brake warning light.
Keep a close eye on it. With yours being a diesel, it is possible that it could be leaking into the servo via the master cylinder seal very slightly, if all else is, as you say, ok.
