Grippin, index the flywheel at the small hole near your crank angle sensor, a 5mm steel rod passes through the flared out section of the block and locks into the matching flywheel hole. It's hard to see. Cam indexes through more obvious pin hole in the sprocket and boss on the head end.

Basically all pistons are at the same height when setting up.
