1.6 HDI 75 or 90?????

hi i was just wondering if someone could help. how do i find out if my van is the 75 or 90 its a 1.6 hdi 2008.

The engine code should tell you its in the vin no,

9HT is 75
9HV is 90
9HX is 90
9HZ is 109

If you cant be arsed looking in the engine bay for the vin no then on my v5 for my 1.6 hdi it tells me on that.

thanks for your quick reply ive had a look at the logbook and its says 9HW i will double check on the engine tomorrow i should imagine that will be the same though. any ideas if 9HW means something different .

no im having turbo trouble its had 2 replacements, its a long story the garage done all the required flushing and bits when the new turbo was fitted then 2 days later the turbo failed another one was sent and fitted then a month later that one broke. the mechanic modified the oil feed to the turbo and fitted a bigger filter and new oil feeds, at the time i couldn't afford another new turbo and the turbo company said it wasn't a fault with the turbo so they made a good one out of two to get me back to work. yesterday the turbo packed up again this time not due to oil starvation. im looking getting just a turbo cartridge to get me back on the road and then get rid of the van and need the engine size to get the correct part.

I thought the 75 and the 90 were the same engine , the only difference being the ecu map?

Might be wrong though.

If your getting turbo failures in a short space of time then the garage simply isn't doing a proper job of cleaning to get rid of the carbon which is causing the failure.

They should be ,

Replacing the turbo oil feed pipe
Removing the gauze
Cleaning the oil cooler
Flushing the engine and replacing the oil
Replacing the oil after about 100 miles
Dropping the sump and cleaning it
Checking and cleaning the gauze on the oil pick up pipe
Cleaning the air inlet tract paying attention to the intercooler

hi all that was done and more, the garage i took it to is a friend and i was there when it was done. they also modified the oil feed to the turbo replacing the gauze filter with a full size oil filter and bigger hoses. the issue this time isnt oil starvation as there is plenty of oil feeding the turbo, its fallen apart inside as they made a working turbo out of two that were fautly to get the van back on the road as i couldnt work and wasnt able to afford another new turbo at the time. its lasted me a year so its not done too bad.
