Fuel De-pressurising
Hi all,

How is the fuel line on a M49 2002 1.4 model depressurised if there is no shroder valve. Is there a fuel sensor that can be unplugged like in other makes of cars to depressurise or is it a case of removing the fuel line from the fuel rail and just letting the fuel flow(spray) out into rags.

Just unplug the fuel pump and crank the engine, it will run out of fuel and depressurise the rail, or just wrap it in wrags with a cold engine/exhaust and unplug the fuel line, not a lot comes out in reality, it's hard to compress liquids, so in reality I reckon you lose a deodorant cap full at most...
Hi PitPan,
Our model is the same year as yours and does have a valve at the clutch end of the rail. However, to quote Haynes manual "Where no valve is fitted to the fuel rail, it will be necessary to release the pressure as a fuel pipe is disconnected" It goes on to say to catch the fuel in a container and plug the pipe to stop further loss/dirt getting in.

DumDum was faster typing then me :-)
