CD Player fault
#1
Hi

I have an 09 reg mk3 berlingo van, which I have owned since May this year.

I have a problem with the stereo in that it won't let me put a CD in!
It's like there is resistance and it is trying to push the CD back out.
It has once taken a CD and played as normal, and while I left it in there it was fine.
But, once I ejected that CD, I haven't been able to put another one in since.

Very strange!

I'm considering buying a 2nd hand like for like replacement, but not sure how the whole coding thing works?

Any advise etc. would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Have you tried a CD you are not bothered about (Justin Bieber probably) and giving it a good push ? The one in our KIA was hard to put a CD in you had to give it a good push before it took over and dragged it in. When we got the car I couldn't put a CD in and that was because the previous owner had left one in there. Sad
So where does this bit go then ?

Yes I've tried that. I can push it right in, but it just pops out again. Definitely not another CD in there as I have had this working once.

Justin Bieber indeed! ;-)

Have you tried pressing source button putting it into AUX then radio then back to CD and then putting the CD in

Hello
The first cd i put in played fine as i was driving along. I got fed up and tried changing it, but it just spit the next one out, and the next one and the next one, etc, and wouldnt even accept the original one that i had been playing ok. I was just about to take vehicle back with complaint of faulty cd player, but i thought i would try to put in a cd, this was with the key in the ignition, but without the engine running. Strangely enough it kindly accepted cd without spitting it out. I ran in doors and burned an mp3 cd with as many albums/tracks as would fit on, went back to car and put key in ignition and tried new mp3 cd that id just burned. It accepted it. Mine just will not allow me to change cd when car has been on the move (ie when i pull over to tend to cd player). So my solution is to put cd in before i start journey. Dont know if this will work for you.

Yeah, I've tried this as well with no luck.
Bizarrely, I got in my van yesterday morning, tried to put a cd in and it accepted it! It played the Cd whenever I wanted it to, throughout the day. Unfortunately, it was a crap mix cd that I've been using to try to get the player to work. So when I got home I took it out and got a CD I liked, but it wouldn't take it! back to square one.

Seems totally random

I suppose you have cleaned the lens on the CD player.
If the laser can't read the TOC in many cases the player will eject the CD

I can't physically push the cd in. There's resistance, like it's trying to eject.

Sorry I misread your first....brain in neutral!
Quite often when these 'slot feed' players start to give trouble
it saves a lot of time and trouble simply to replace them.
Not what you want to hear, I know, but unless you have an ICE
expert as a mate, it may work out expensive...I'd get a quote from a ICE repairer first.

Did you try another cd the next morning, ie before driving off?
