judder in first/reverse
#1
Hello All, just got my first berlingo, its on a 53 plate 2.0 hdi multispace desire. Bought it without viewing from ebay!!.
It got me the 200 miles home no probs.
MOT due in mid Oct so giving it the once over. Just had to change the front pads, decided to do discs as well, all else looks fine.
Two question please. first one, there is a slight judder when pulling away in first also in reverse. Is this more likely to be clutch or engine mounts?. Its High mileage 130k. Second although it looks like it has been looked after mechanically there is no service history, I intend to do a full service so as to have a known start point. The Haynes manual says one need to set the timing belt tension with an electronic meter that measures in "seems". How does one get round that? I checked my local Citroen dealer who has quoted £300+ for the timing belt!!! that's a lot of money considering what I paid for it. regards Huddie

Congratulations on buying a 2.0 hdi, these will run along time if looked after properly.
The judder is likely to be cured by changing the clutch, it may have had a cheap one fitted, become contaminated, or just plain worn out.
A decent specialist should charge about £200 Max oft the cambelt & tensioners, changing the water pump is essential in my book, we do all this for about £230, obviously you are too far away, but I imagine this is about the going rate.
