Hi. Just wondered if anyone could tell me if it is possible to change the valve stem seals on my 1.9 diesel,V reg 2000, Berlingo van, by taking the cam off and going in from the top, without splitting the head:brickwall:

No, virtually impossible !!!!
Need to access the valves to stop them dropping into cylinders whilst compressing valve springs, removing collars and collets then replacing seals.
Another thought, while the head is off you can also inspect the valve guides for wear and decarbonise/clean up and lap valves in replacing worn parts as neccesary.
Enjoy

You can do it from above, by raising each piston as you work on it and feeding in a cord to stop the valve dropping. But, why bother? Do it properly - do it once....

Probably could if you are experienced enough but to the layman...
Plus the thoughts of collets and valve springs flirting off, zinging past my earholes or in my eyes as they quickly lose themselves in some dim and dingy corner of the workshop doesn't appeal to me these days...
