Squealing and chirping
#1
Hi All
A few days ago my Berlingo started making a kind of chirping noise when the van was in motion, idle it didn't make a sound. The noise was similar to the noise when the serpentine belt is on it's way out, I've recently had the whole serpentine belt and pulley assembly replaced as the person that had it before me had shimmed it and wrecked the whole lot. Over the days the noise has got worse and now it chirps as soon as the engine is started. It doesn't seem to get faster the faster I go just a constant chirp. Strange thing is is when I'm cruising if I put my foot on the clutch the noise goes away until I take my foot off the clutch. It seems to be when the rev counter moves it starts. Anyone any ideas what this could be?
Thanks

Sounds like worn clutch bearing?

To be honest I'm not 100%, I'll need to check tomorrow. I know it definitely goes away when I'm cruising and I think it also does when idle but can't say for sure. Is the clutch thrust bearing easy to do? I had a new clutch fitted about 6 months ago as the old one broke. I'm trying to do things on my own note and I've done a few bits and pieces but don't know too much about the clutch

Usually, a failing clutch bearing will give a chirping/ringing sound at idle but disappear when clutch pedal is pressed. down.
I presume a new clutch bearing was fitted along with new clutch?
If you think it's the auxiliary belt making the noise, take it back to the garage who fitted it.
