Tyre Noise
#1
Hi, I have a 64 plate XTR which has covered 1000 miles. I have noticed that the front tyres seem to be noisy when travelling at between 20 and 30 mph. They make a sort of wo wo wo wo wo noise on smooth roads. Apart from that they are fine.
Mine is an ETG6 model, so rides on 15" steel wheels.
Is this a berlingo trait?

I'd just been driving a brand new ETG6 for all of last week (loaner car whilst mine was having some body work done). Didn't notice any unusual tyre sounds at any speed.

What you describe is exactly the same as I experience on my 2010 VTR. It comes and goes depending on the road surface but it's always at around 30 mph. Both front tyres are Dunlop SP Sport Fastresponse (205/65 R15) which are about half worn (so much more than yours), and from what I've read on other forums these sorts of noises get louder as the tyre wears. I don't consider it too bothersome but I'll probably change the fronts for a different type sooner than I might otherwise.

I heard from my driving instructor its when the tyres are new and that's them singing, but that was on a truck.
I DO MISS MY BERLINGO Heart

I've also got a 64-reg xtr airdream auto, but I haven't noticed what you describe. I think I put about 40psi in the tyres, which was much more than the dealer did. It has a very wide range depending on load - I went for somewhere in the middle.

Thanks, might try that Doofer as I haven't checked the tyres since collecting it last month. Failing that I'll just turn the radio up! Wink

No...It's a tyre trait. Different tyres make differing levels of road noise. If you're happy with the performance of the tyres then
ignore it. If not do some research and buy a set of the best tyres with a low noise factor....could be costly!  Wink
