Wipers will not switch off
#1
Hi, I am wondering if someone can advise me what to do please..My 58 plate diesel Berliingo has suddenly developed some weird faults. Firstly the wipers will not switch off, although I have discovered if I put the lights on to dipped headlights, they will then stop. At the same time as this occurred the front nearside sidelight is now permanently on, After doing some investigation under the bonnet, I now have both front side lights permanently on (though not the rears ). I have also noted that after I turn off the ignition, the heater fan will remain running, although this will switch off at the fan switch. What on earth do I do here...HELP PLEASE !.

Try doing a BSI reset , search the forum for how to do it. You could have moisture getting into the BSI unit by the fuse box is the scuttle clear of crap, as water from here can find its way into the bulkhead from there and onto the fuse box.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Check the underbonnet fuse box for water ingress" There are three main connectors with a swivel clamp to hold them in. The centre one has a habit of getting full of water. Check this ASAP, as it will wreck the fuse box & plug if left unattended.

Thank you all for your replies. I did leave a long post about 8.330 this evening, but it seems have gone astray somewhere. So again, I did the reset trick many times today...to no avail. I removed all the fuses from the BSI unit and cleaned them. The unit did not appear to be wet. I did not remove the three large connecting plugs, as I could not really see how they attached...I will have another go in the morning. I did find a way to switch off the wipers though, I just have the headlights on dip...and the wipers stop. After spending most of the day on the car, I noiw have permanent wipers, two front side lights, and one dip headlight permanently on. If I cannot sort this out in the morning, it will have to be the main dealer in town !!.

Just an update, spent the whole of Tuesday working on the problem. I suspected the fusebox, but could not prove this was the problem. In the end had to take it to the local Citroen main dealer. They diagnosed a faulty fusebox, which had also blown the some bulbs due to a short. Upshot...a bill for £402. The first time in my life I have had to use a main dealer to sort out a problem.

Sometimes its cheaper in the long rum to use a main dealer. They see the same old faults day after day and know what to replace to fix the fault. I havent been on the tools for years now and you lose touch especially on the electrical side of things so i would have probably been in the same boat as you badger!
