Most reliable years (Diesel)
#1
Hi everyone, I am moving to France ,and I got very excited to drive a Berlingo there several years ago.  I am going to purchase a used one when I arrive.  I am a very good mechanic + do most of my own repairs.  I want to discuss the years that Citroen got it right.  I am thinking a non-Turbo 2.0 liter with a 5 speed manual trans.   What do you suggest?

Thanks, JW

Oh, My budget is under 3000.- euros, and I would like a multi style . I have to visit several people all over Europe, and will camp along the way(that will take most of the summer).

Hi JW welcome to the forum, if it was me I would be going for a 2.0 litre hdi multispace there should be thousands of them to choose from. They are a well proven engine and rugged and easy to look after. Don't forget the Peugeot partner version to. The 1.6 is a good engine to but if it hasn't been well maintained they can be fragile, you need full service history. If you want to plod about and admire the scenery as you go by then go for a 1.9 diesel, these are rugged as hell and go for years and years but they aint fast.
Good luck.
Are we there yet????? No we fecking ain`t  gggggrrrrrrr

Used car prices are higher in France than UK, for 3000€ you will be looking at car around 2005 depending on mileage. The non turbo diesel is the 1.9D & probably best bet, cheapest to repair as it is old technology indirect injection, only 70bhp though so slow by modern standards.. Ensure you have a record of cambelt change though, if not budget for having it done.

A good website for used cars in France is Leboncoin Click on region of France you are in & put Citroen Berlingo 1.9D into search.
