Pedal Box Broken.

Hello All, 

I would really appreciate any advice with regards to a broken Pedal Box on my 2005 2.0hdi Berlingo Multispace.
I will try to keep this as short as possible! I pressed the clutch pedal down there was a loud crack and the pedal was hanging at an angle and no gear change.

I managed to get it to my local garage who informed me the pedal box had cracked on both sides and to leave the car with them, when I went to pick up the vehicle I was told that they had managed to weld it as best they could in car, as to remove and replace the pedal box would be very expensive as the engine would need to be lowered to remove the servo unit and it would take a long time to do the job.

I have a Haynes Manual unfortunately the Pedal Box does not appear to be there but I did look at the Servo Unit and it never mentions dropping the engine for removing it or am I missing something? 
If anyone has had this job done I would really appreciate your input as my knowledge of cars is somewhat limited!!

 The haynes manual is right if you have a lefthand drive model, unless I'm missing something it does not mention the r/hand drive at all in relation to removing master cylinder or servo unit.
 
The engine probably would need lowering or bringing forward but that is not really a big job. ( Depending on the model )  As I have not had to replace a  m/cylinder or servo I cant be definite about it. Maybe someone has done one and will let you know.

  As for the pedal box wouldn't that be removed from the inside ? , and shouldn't really need the master cylinder/servo removed. Once the thing is unbolted it could be left in place while the pedal box is removed and welded.      But as they have done a welding job on it they should know what's the easiest/cheapest way  Huh

Many thanks for your reply, when they did the welding they did say to give it a try but if it were to break again (this is the second time!!) then the whole pedal box would need to be replaced.

My car is a 2005 Berlingo Multispace 2.0hdi right hand drive, when I was talking to the mechanic I just got the feeling they had never done this job before
and  were unsure of how to remove the pedal box, like yourself I would have thought it would be removed from the inside of the vehicle after unbolting the servo etc.

I was just hoping someone on here may have had the job done and be able to give some insight into what was involved and what sort of price it cost.

Hi,
I've just had a quote from a Peugeot garage for replacing the clutch/brake pedal assembly on my 09 partner 1.6 hdi ---£425!!!! I've just bought a complete assembly + servo+ clutch master cylinder + delivery for £35 from EBay!!!

Thanks for your info, the £35 sounds great good find!!  but £425 wow that's a lot of money for the assembly and labour!!!
This goes along with what I was told that if it does break again I should brace myself for some serious open wallet surgery!!

Remember that would be dealer labour rates and they would have looked up the quoted hours for the job not how long it would actually take. I was once quoted 7 hours for a job that from start to finish took me 22 minutes. Ask around a few independent garages or look for a citroen specialist in your area for a quote.
