Oil change time
#1
Hello chaps!
What size / type tools are required for the sump drain plug and the filter cover on a DV6 (2012 1.6 75)?
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

you need 27 mm socket for the filter cover and a 21 mm for the sump plug - good luck be sure to fit the new filter correctly!

On my oil filter housing cap it says 25nm. Not sure about the drain plug though.

2 year service not due till this time next year, but I wouldnt leave oil changes that long not- even on my worst enemies lawnmower.

Is it a copper seal on the sump plug?
It is on my to do list.

Yes, copper washer, but can't remember if it's a crush washer. I measured the one that came off and got a load more from ebay. Oil change is easy on this really, sump guard probably takes me the longest step.

Just a normal copper washer - reuse

Not taking chances with any aspect of oil change!

Thanks for info everyone.
All went well, filter was the only element [Image: biggrin.png] of uncertanty but didnt take long to figure out.Not the best design in the world though.
Copper washer was too badly distorted to reuse and a new one was only 20p (20mmx10mmx2mm)
Filter (1109AY) was from the local main dealer at £16 -saw them going for under £7 on ebay-one to remember next time.
Oil was Total Quartz Ineo 5w30 Peugeot/Citroen from Nielsons -way cheaper than the £9/litre the dealer charged me last service.

It was the vehicles first MOT -service not due until next year so I used the downtime for an oil change.
Only 4000 miles done since the last service so it hadnt become too dirty.
The engine sounds quieter, and the oil pressure light goes out quicker, engine feels perkier.
All this could be just in my head but Ive gained 3mpg off my fuel consumption-that cant be.
I do believe that the dealer charged me for decent oil but filled up from the barrel of general purpose muck.
It is on my to do list.
