Spraying bumper part and grill
#1
Any advice on spraying the front bumper (Grey part in the pic) and the plastic chrome. Want to try and match it closer to the bumper colour or even mat black.
I assume the bumper could be done with plastic filler primer then finish as normal, would it be the same for the plastic chrome?

Has anyone done this?

You'll need to rub it down to key it, probably 400 grit wet and dry. I've never used special primer just ordinary grey primer but it wouldn't hurt to use the proper stuff. Epoxy primer is the go to nowadays and you will probably find Satin Black is a better finish than Matt as it is easier to clean and a better match for automotive plastics.
So where does this bit go then ?

Thanks for the replies, very helpful.

After applying epoxy primer then finished with satin black, is there any need for a lacquer?

try plastidip on it, its a liquid rubber coating that you can peel off if you don't like it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvkq-qyY9aY

I have looked at plastidip but not sure how it will hold up on the front bumper against stone chips etc. Do you have any personal experience with it?

You'd need a lot of coats of plastidip to make in stonechip proof. Have you thought of vinyl wrap?

If you put lacquer on it you'll lose the satin finish which was the idea of putting it on in the first place. If you want shiny use gloss finish paint.
So where does this bit go then ?
