My 'pet' name form my present Berlingo is 'Mademoiselle Amelie'   After the French Film with Audrey Tautou

my other one was 'Inspector  Coulseau'    


So does your car have a pet name.

At the moment i call my mk1 Berlingo puppy
because its a dog

Mine is called " the Van " by myself and wife and also by my son when he wants to borrow it even though I sold my Berlingo van for a Berlingo Multispace, I have after all owned a van almost continually for nearly thirty years so I guess the die is firmly cast on that one.

I've never ever called a vehicle by a name let alone considered it to have gender.

When my wife and I go out it is usually a case of her asking me ( she hates driving ) which one are we taking so I either answer with the Van, the Car, the Land Rover or whichever make motorcycle it will be.

I did in younger years purchase a Bermudan Sloop which came with a female name and as it was a nuisance to register differently I left it as was but even then I only ever referred to it as the " Boat "

Most of our cars have had names, they usually name themselves with a little help from my wife. I think they've all been blokes apart from Muriel the Mini and the Cars With No Name (Pug 206SW, Escort 1.6 and my old Ser 2a Land Rover)
