Hi last week I bought my first Berlingo, an 03 2.0 HDi
Can someone tell me what warning lights are supposed to appear when you first turn the ignition.
I see Handbrake, Seatbelt, Engine Diag and Battery and Air Bag only
The preheater warning lamp doesn't come on at all. What does happen is the Low Fuel indicator comes on, even with a full tank and then goes off after a few seconds. At this point if I start the engine it fires
Also the elctronic readout for oil level gives a different reading every time I start the engine - Full, then empty, then two blocks etc, completely random
Can anyone give me some pointers please as inconsistent warning lights seems worse than none at all to me
Thanks very much
Mark

Hi Tomcat
Thanks very much for the ultra-quick response. The oil reads OK on the dipstick, so I guess it must be the sensor, as you described. The oil light does not come on at any stage however, which is a little worrying. The STOP light might also not be working...is there a way to test all these lights to make sure they're functioning properly?
Thanks
Marco

The oil level sensor is on the back left of the engine and according to Haynes the oil pressure switch is fitted at the front of the block above the oil filter or into the oil filter housing depending on engine type, so check wiring to that. The stop light should come on if brake fluid low or coolant low so try testing these sensors and check wiring.
Are we there yet?????

My oil level changes depending on how I'm parked, if left on a steep incline for a while it'll show nearly empty when starting.

Hi
Thanks for all replies. In this case it's giving different readouts on my drive every time. Also the oil lamp never comes on. I emailed the dealer, just to get it on record within a week of purchase, and will call him tomorrow. The forum, this thread and a couple of others, has been really helpful
Cheers
