Newbie with an eye for the Berlingo
#1
Hi, everyone!  Smile
Thought I would join this forum since I'm considering Berlingo as my next car. I've experience with Toyota and Mitsubishi, but never had a Citroen before. I want a little spacious van with 5 seats, with the option to remove the seats for goods and camping. I've totally fallen for the Berlingo.

I've been warned that Citroens have a lot of weaknesses and faults - and if I decide to get one I'll be the workshops new VIP. Is this true or is it just old thinking?
Can you tell me how your ownership has been and what type of problems have you run into? Do you think the Berlingo is less reliable than cars from Toyota and Mitsubishi?

Thank you for your time and help  Smile

Toyota have dropped down the build quality specs in recent years - just look at the major recalls (user may experience no brakes, no steering etc).

I don't think there is any manufacturer doing excellently at the moment especially where diesels are involved but also petrols to some extent, the emissions regulations are just getting too tough to be achievable without impacting reliability and an enormous impact on cost. Hopefully new fuel cars (hydrogen, electric) will simplify cars again in the future.

If you are looking for an old one I'd certainly recommend the 1.9D Berlingo's but they are low acceleration.

I don't like any turbo engines so I can't comment on modern ones.
