[Brakes] MOT time to check front discs and pads
I thought it would be so easy. Loosened the 3 normal bolts on my alloy wheels and fished out the adapter to loosen the locking bolt. Use a long extension bar and turn...or try to. The last tyre fitter, in December 2012, had used the usual air gun to tighten it although I had put copper ease on earlier when it came out no bother.Looking at the bolt I could see the indents which the adapter fits were looking a little bigger! Tried penetrating fluid and a tap with a impact hammer. No Joy. Well, at least I have the undamaged adapter. Will an air gun do any better? I hope so as I see locking bolt extractors seem to be too big diam. 17mm is the smallest I've seen and my bolt is 16.67mm so the 17mm would probably not grip enough. I appreciate there are specialist wheel bolt removers out there....just hope one is in Inverness! It is unlikely my breakdown service would help as the car is still mobile. the other wheel is also too tight.
The moral soon as I get the little buggers out...of all 4 wheels.. they will be replaced by standard wheel bolts!!!! I have noted the comments on the very low chance of getting alloy wheels nicked these days, and the Peugeot ones are not that pretty!
