Thanks for the useful question Pete.
The "Report" button is there for members to press when they feel that a post/thread violates one of the following:
- Vulgar, offensive, adult or spam post.
- Thread has been created in the wrong section.
- Advertising.
Once you click the report button, a pop-up window opens asking you to specify a reason why you have done so. Once reported, it will appear to moderators and they can act accordingly.
Linking off from this, we have the ''Warning Level". Now you can be warned for a variety of misdemeanours including; spam posting, vulgar or adult posting, advertising and so on. Each time an offence is made, you will be warned accordingly (ie 10, 20%). These warnings last a period of weeks. After your warning level passes 40%, you begin to lose controls/access to the forum. At 100%, you get a temporary ban.
It all sounds like the mods are forum Police, but we are not. When/if this place gets busy, we will receive alot of spam (etc), [like every other forum], so this infrastructure should hopefully allow us to deal with it in the most effective way.
