Lexia problem
#1
Dear All
I had a non-starting problem with a Berlingo Van (2006 HDi 2ltr) some time ago and was grateful to advice I got from the forum however it didnt cure the fault. My local garage managed to get fault codes for me and they all related to fuel issues mainly the code for low fuel pressure  or more accurately a problem with the fuel pressure sensor. The problem was very intermittent. Some days it would start without any problem others it just wouldnt play ball whatever I did. Then sometimes it would start after leaving it for a while...bizarre. Eventually I took off every sensor clip I could find (or get to) including the fuel pressure sensor and cleaned them with contact cleaner. Thankfully the problem ceased and didnt come back but not before I bought a Lexia from Ebay. Seeing as the vehicle was running fine I never opened the Lexia diagnostic until today when the vehicle wouldnt start again after two months of trouble free running. Dug the package out tried to download the software without any instruction booklet present but had to find a tutorial on line as I was having trouble. This still didnt help much as the info didnt match what I was looking at on my PC. I faffed about trying installation methods but was quite concerned when the Licence agreement for the software stated that if Id bought the kit on Ebay quote " I had been robbed". Im not a purist and so ignored it but I still cannot get the damned software to work properly. If anyone has any suggestions (cant get a reply from the overseas Ebay vendor) then Id be grateful for help. It does look like it could be an Ebay "ouch" but I dont want to give in just yet.
Symptoms of vehicle problem were/are as follows:
Started van normally this morning, moved it forward 3 yards nearer to shed to put a couple of tools in back, turned off engine. Got back in five mins later and van wouldnt start. Checked all fuses - fine. Reset BSI - no change. Cleaned all fuel sensor plugs and others with contact cleaner - no improvement.
Spent all day trying to download Lexia software to no avail. Im sure the fault with the van is electronic and related to the fuel system (there is plenty of diesel in the tank). I think the Siemens injectors are staying shut just like an immobiliser would. This problem first occured in late February and lasted on and off for several weeks. Then miraculously it stopped without me changing any sensors but came back again today. Its a real head scratcher just like this Lexia tool software. The diagnostic is a Lexia PP2000 3. I might just order a new fuel pressure sensor but it would be handy to try by-passing it if possible to see if it is indeed this sensor at fault.

There has been some posts about dodgy Lexia software from china which doesn't work properly, usually on sale from ebay.
Search on this forum for Lexia software and take your pick of the posts about it.  Huh

Your symptoms suggest air in the fuel lines/pipes.

You haven't got an airleak into the fuel system have you. ?

You may have run it long enough for the air to reach the injectors just as you stopped it.

When the air reaches the injectors it stops unless the engine is revving high enough to run on ok by bleeding itself.?

What about trying to bleed the fuel system?.

Your assessment and suggested steps are on the list of things Ive looked at already and I dont think its air in fuel for following reasons. The vehicle will start one day perfectly and then the next day it wont. I then go around tinkering with fuses, sensor plugs, leave it for a few hours and then it may start first time or not at all. If it was air in fuel then my assumption would be that it wouldnt start at all until some fuel line remedy had been applied (such as bleeding etc). This morning I went to vehicle and followed BSI reset procedure and it started first time like a dream. Let it run for a few minutes then reversed it about four or five yards and turned off ignition. Tried it again and wouldnt start again. The thing is, this problem has happened dozens of times and always outside home and never anywhere else. Anyway, the Chinese supplier of the Lexia kit has responded with some downloadable manuals to look at so it looks like Im going to be plonked infront of PC all day again supping tea and getting frustrated. Im self employed out in the Yorkshire dales and losing money hand over fist at the moment whilst the van is not running. Im reluctant to take the van to a Citroen dealer as they could end up telling me I need things that I dont. My local garages dont have Lexia, they have different diagnostics and one of them thought I needed a new fuel pump which is completely wrong. If I could get my Lexia working, or access to any other Id be able to take the first steps toward solving this puzzle.

It's either high pressure pump or immobiliser related.

Are you using windows XP, lexia won't install on anything else. If you follow all the instructions it should just install.

Hi Darren reading your last post you mention that it only fails to start when parked at your house. This may be a long shot but by any chance do you have any transmitter masts near by. These have been known to cause problems with central locking or immobilizer systems.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Hi, darrenchadwick
Could you please post a whole list of all errors on BSI, BSM and so on electronic units of your car?

Cracked and dealer's Lexia needs activation before usage. Connect OBD interface to your PC and send us a picture of an output of following file:  %rootdir%/APPLIC/LCTLEX3/MajAppCom.exe. In the program press 'Init GESTCOMM' button.

Thanks Chaps
I welcome every comment from anyone as Im at my whits end with this van...again.
The problem first started back in February. Van just wouldnt start after running fine and regularly for, well, ever since I bought it. I thought it was a fuel problem so went and changed the fuel filter. The van had been stood for half a day when I got round to doing this and once fitted the van started no problem. It ran for a couple of days and then one morning it wouldnt start again. So checked fuel line, made sure filter was okay etc. Still no joy. Started scouring internet, ringing local garage, phoning mates etc. Went back to try it and bingo it starts as if nothing was wrong at all. Ran it to local garage and put it on their diganostics. Codes came up as low fuel, fuel pressure low, EGR valve. Cleared codes and van ran fine for a few more days and then one morning it does it all again. This went on and on for weeks. In between all this I was doing BSI resets, cleaning sensor plugs, checking battery and alternator output....all seemed fine. Then one day it happened again (fault was repeating intermittently every few days) and so I bought some electrical contact cleaning spray. I sprayed every sensor contact I could and hey presto the fault didnt come back for 10 or 14 weeks until yesterday. Im baffled. Even bought new battery for key fob to eliminate this possibility. Now one other factor to consider (or not) is that 18 months ago I filled this van with diesel at a garage and I noted the fuel gauge only came up half way despite knowign there was more than this in the tank. Since then the fuel gauge has had erratic days where it seems to behave or occassionally state that there is less fuel in tank than there really is. On start up, Ive seen the fuel gauge rise to refelct the fuel level only to drop instantly to half way. Some days the gauage says there is nothing in the tank but later goes back to normal on the next start up. It may go for days without playing up and then go for days being a gremlin. I know Im clutching at straws here but could there remotely be any connection or am I just mixing seperate unrelated problems that are just a coincidence? PS. The info from the Chinese Lexia supplier is about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. I think main problem is that Im on Windows 7 so I could be flogging a dead horse here.
Going out to van now to try another BSI reset......hopefully it will be in a good mood. PPS. No masts here or transmitters etc we cant even get a mobile phone signal. Were remote. If anyone with a Lexia wants a nice short break here in beautiful Swaledale, Yorkshire Dales, I'll put them up in a B&B if they can fix this hateful little van.

I should add that the symptoms are exactly 'immobiliser' like.
Error codes found on my local viallge garage (not Lexia diagnostics) were poste by me on this forum back in spring so I'll try and go back and find them. At moment the van is stuck outside the house unable to move so cant get any upto date codes which is very frustrating when Im sat next to a new Lexia kit which wont work on my laptop.

Yes. Lexia won't work on Win'7. It needs only XP. Please, obtain and information from Lexia supplier, will your 'OBD tail' work with PSA XS evolution software?

PS. If immo issue persists, only Lexia (PSA XS evolution) gonna help you, because nothing execept dealer's scanner won't have an access to COMM2000, BSI, BSM and Airbag units.

Trying to find where I had the codes written down but it was checked back in March so struggling to find codes.
I do know there were three or four codes and they were for following:
Low Fuel
Fuel Pressure low at rail
EGR valve

These codes were retrieved from ECu memory when van was running okay between breakdowns.
I cant get anymore current codes as vehicle is stood and wont go. Im sure they will be exactly the same as above.
