The only personalised plates I've seen that was any good was on a WWII Jeep...
It had 'D - 1944'

Most of the rest just signals that driver is 1D10T.

I have never seen the point of 'private' plates. Some of the drivers would have done better spending the cash on a safe driving course.

Is W4NKA available?

Or you could always change your name to AB12CDE or whatever it happens to be. At least it would be spelt right then.

My folks paid over 1k for my initials/Year of the car/My first name for my 21st Birthday.
Its been on every car since and makes parking in reg controlled car parks easy.

Beats buying over priced halfords bits to 'Personallise' your vehicle and Private plates are less likely to be stolen as they are too easy to notice.

I know of a Porsche locally that has BO55 PAY on it.

I thought our neighbour's car looked pretty decent for an 03-reg. It was a while after I realised it was their initials - I thought it was just an old car.

I think if you're going to waste your money then at least get one that's not a registration year plate, i.e. the ones that cost proper money.

On thing I can guarantee, the DVLA will never have the number you want.

The wrong year on the other than does provide some amusement when people comment on how well its looking for its age! Cool

So far, they won't allow registrations to be re-born from the scrapyard. Every car that has been scrapped has had its plate cancelled - unless it was a personal plate that was transferred beforehand.

It seems obvious to me that at some point DVLA will allow this, and the info on their site hints at this too. At this point, all kinds of plates will be available - we'll all be able to get our dad's old reg plate on our car, the one from our favourite old British film, and there will be thousands of ageless plates available too. This will also mean that the current small number of special plates that are already around will become almost worthless with the huge new supply of others.
